Sightseeing In California

You've heard it before... Sightseeing is typically reserved for people from “out of town”.

At least that is what I thought before I had the chance to check out the great sites in California! Remember, I was born and raised in California… seeing tourists with cameras who were pointing and holding maps wasn’t anything new to me!

Let me tell you a secret…

The best sightseeing I’ve done has been on the spur of the moment. Taking off in the car and going… just driving to “somewhere” and checking stuff out. You might even see a beautiful sunset you never expected to see. creek

These have been some of my best memories and I’m sure they will become yours too!

Sightseeing allows you to take a step back and be on an instant vacation. All you have to do is absorb the environment you are in! Allow yourself to take in the scenery, the historical sites, the view, the architecture. Live in the moment and you will understand what it’s all about!

An amazing historical sightseeing trip can leave you craving more. San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park offers live cannon demonstrations every month!

Most destinations can turn into a sightseeing trip. You will find this happens to you all the time – if you let it! Take that turn off the freeway and check out the sign for a fruit and vegetable stand or follow that sign for a Back Country Byway.

Are you crossing a bridge or driving over a dam? Pull over and take the opportunity for a beautiful scenic view!

creekHave you seen a sign for a park you always wanted to check out? Take a few minutes and see what’s there, you’ll be amazed at some of the things you find. Beauty is everywhere and learning to appreciate what you see blossoms every time you stop to look!

Going on a long road trip? Look on your map and pick a few places you want to know more about. This gives you a great chance to entertain you and your family and make a “pit stop” at the same time. Yes gas is expensive, but most of the time you can do this for FREE!!!!

If you have several hours to spare or a weekend with nothing planned, consider taking a day trip to a local destination. Pack a lunch, take your camera, and start your trip! It’s as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!
