Laguna Beach Dog Park View

This is a well thought out Dog Park. The terrain is 95% flat, green grass and minimal trees. Benches are scattered throughout the park for you to use at your leisure.
Laguna Beach Dog Park Water Fountain

There is even a water fountain for your pooch! You will find courtesy doggie bags for you to use and trash cans near the exit…. How convenient!!
When you enter the park you will pass through a series of control gates for your pets safety. The first set of gates will lead you to the second set of gates and you will find a staging or “leashing area” for your dog.

This “leashing area” is where you would take off or put on your leash without the fear of your dog running away. If you happen to be taking your leash off, the next step is to pick the “large dog” or “small dog” play area.

Laguna Beach Dog Park Large Dog Section

Open the gate to the area your dog corresponds to (large dog / small dog), and let them run and play!!
The Laguna Beach Dog Park is open from dawn to dusk every day except Wednesdays for maintenance, and closed during or after rain. Luckily we don’t have too much rain in Southern California or Laguna Beach.… so you will get great use out of this FREE Dog Park.

If you’re looking for other areas in Laguna Beach to take your dog, check out Heisler Park. There are great pathways, grassy areas, and a doggy water fountain too!

History Behind Laguna Beach Dog Park

The Dog Park is owned, operated and maintained by the City of Laguna Beach. However, Friends of Laguna Beach Dog Park (FLBDP) is a non-profit corporation who is dedicated to “preserving and enhancing” the Dog Park.

In the early part of the 1990’s, Laguna Beach residents and members of Rescuing Unwanted Furry Friends (RUFF) worked with the City and the Owner of the land to establish Laguna Beach Dog Park.

The Dog Park was not safe for long; there was a new city proposal to create a “skateboard-park” in half of the park!!!

Thankfully, FLBDP was created and mobilized their efforts with strategic precision to stop the new city proposal. In their own words, “and the City listened”.

The Laguna Beach Dog Park has been safe since February of 2006, however the chance of another proposal could be around the corner.
