The OC Zoo is the best little zoo for kids!!! It's nestled on the border of Orange County and Riverside County.  Orange County Zoo Kids Observing Bird Sanctuary Do you need a zoo day trip that won't break the bank with admission prices AND keep your kids and toddlers occupied for a few hours? How does a $2.00 admission fee sound? What about free admission for kids under 2 years? You will be super excited when you go to the Orange County Zoo; it’s affordable for the whole family! To be honest, I've lived in Southern California almost my ENTIRE life and I've never heard of this zoo!! To top it off, the OC Zoo is inside of the OLDEST regional park in California! It's called the Irvine Regional Park. Who knew? The Orange County Zoo is a great place for young kids and toddlers. It's a modest five acre zoo in the middle of Irvine Regional Park. The zoo pathways are enclosed and easy for your little one to run around and not get lost in the crowd. The Zoo is extremely easy to navigate with a large stroller too!
 Orange County Zoo Peacock  Orange County Zoo Pigeons and Colored Bird Several birds and mid-size animals live at the OC Zoo. The largest animals are the Alpaca, Black Bear, and Mountain Lion. The animals live in replicated natural habitats. This allows for a more comfortable environment for the animals and helps with the educational experience for visitors.
 Barnyard Petting Zoo Area Have fun at the barnyard and domestic petting zoo! Your kids will love looking at and touching the animals. There is a small food dispenser you can purchase little pellets from and feed the animals. The OC Zoo has many different educational activities for kids. Art classes, hands on crafts, Storytime and other educational programs are offered year round. The toddler programs are the most popular at the OC Zoo so please reserve your spot early!  Orange County Zoo Kids Observing Animals For school aged kids the zoo offers a free scavenger hunt handout to help them explore the zoo! Be sure to ask for it at the front entrance. The Park has a lot of activities to include with your zoo day trip. Check out what the Park has to offer before you go! Zoo Travel Tips: - When you enter the zoo, get handouts for activities occurring that day and don't forget the Storytime schedule!!

- The zoo is open every day of the year except for Christmas Day and New Year's Day
- No bathrooms are located inside the zoo. The closest bathroom is near the parking lot of the zoo
- Plan on 1 hour for your "zoo trip" unless you have signed up for zoo activities. Don't forget to call and reserve your spot early for zoo programs, they fill up fast
- Expect to spend several hours inside Irvine Regional Park, there are playgrounds, train rides, pony rides and more activities
- Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the Park for the afternoon, several picnic tables are available for use
The OC Zoo is super convenient because it is located near the 91, 55, freeways. It is a couple of blocks off the 261!!! Jamboree takes you practically to the front entrance of the Park.Don't forget, I love the admission price - $2.00 !!! And you will too!!!
